RECOGNIZED FOR

Outbound Hotels group operates a collection of boutique hotel experiences throughout some of America’s most adventure-rich areas. In places like Wyoming and California they’ve renovated old, forgotten motels and hotels, and breathed new life into them as a place for guests to relax after a day outdoors. In 2022, the group opened their first location, The Virginian Lodge, and wanted to promote it by hosting an intimate concert with a big-name artist — Father John Misty. The following year, Outbound opened their second location in Mammoth Lakes, CA and put on a corresponding, rebranded music series headlining Andrew Bird for both locations.

OUR APPROACH

Convey the stripped down, rustic landscape and throwback vibe of the venues through the brand. Create an artist-neutral treatment to ensure ongoing consistency while making the host (sponsor) the hero.

When the Outbound Hotels group decided to unveil The Virginian Lodge with an annual courtyard music series featuring singer-songwriter Father John Misty as the inaugural act, we jumped into action. First, by helping to name the series, landing on a theme that played off the hotel group’s name and the interior courtyard where the concert would be held. Then we took elements that nodded to the vintage charm of The Virginian’s aesthetic, while pulling from some of the musician’s recent album artwork and typography treatments to create promotional assets that included event signage, website collateral, social, digital and print marketing materials and welcome packets for guests.

BUILDING OFF THE WIN

Shortly after the successful launch of The Inbound Music Series at The Virginian, Outbound decided to turn the music series into a recurring event at their additional location and give the concert a slight name change that would tie closer to the brand and create stronger recognition for the hotel group. With that, The Virginian Inbound Music Series became The Outbound Music Series and was hosted at both the Jackson Hole, WY location and the Mammoth Lakes, CA.

Famous Victory rebranded the visual identity to be more inline with Outbound Hotels visual brand, while bringing back some of the previous year’s textures and type treatment. Then we applied it to promotional pieces that came to life through an updated website, event signage and a fully integrated campaign consisting of social media posts, digital and print marketing and packets that welcomed guests to the two different locations.
